Alexandra Armas decides to quit as Executive Director of Ladies European Tour

Alexandra Armas, who was serving as the Executive Director of the Ladies European Tour, has decided to quit her position, the Tour officials informed.
According to the details, Armas will keep working till the end of the year. Officials said that her tenure is coming to an end at the close of the 2012 season.
In addition to acting as the Executive Director of the Ladies European Tour, Armas will be overseeing several projects and programmes. She will continue to coordinate with the Tour management until her formal departure.
Officials said that the Tour expects Armas to give her input in the selection process for her successor.
Speaking to the media after the announcement of her decision, Armas said that she is glad that she had the opportunity to work for the Ladies European Tour. She said that she gained tremendously while working with a brilliant staff and management.
Armas pointed out that golf has a long way to go in Europe, but the progress is easy to see.
Unlike the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) that was founded in the United States, the Ladies European Tour largely features European players.
Founded in 1979, the Tour is headquartered in England and has been conducting different tournaments since its launch.
Officials of the Tour said that they are happy to have found the opportunity to work under the leadership of Armas. Armas said that Ladies European Tour has repositioned itself in the face of growing competition — on business and sport’s fronts.
She stated, “I truly believe in the strength of women’s golf and feel privileged to have had the opportunity to help with the development of women’s golf and the LET”.
“With the LET in a better business position than ever and with a strong team and structure in place, it is now the time for me to consider new challenges and projects,” Armas said.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Karen Lunn, appreciated the work Alex has been doing for the Tour.
“Alex has been an asset to the Ladies European Tour, driving the company forward and impacting the growth of women’s golf across the globe. Thanks to her commitment, loyalty, the Tour has been rewarded with positive results,” Lunn said.
