Alexandra Dulgheru surmounts Arantxa Rus in 1st round – Hansol Korea Open 2011
Romaine Alexandra Dulgheru surmounts Dutch Arantxa Rus in the opening round match of the Hansol Korea Open 2011. The two battled it out on the hard courts of Olympic Tennis Courts in Seoul, South Korea on the 19th of September 2011. After 2 hours and 10 minutes of the match unseeded Alexandra won by bouncing back from a set down to see a 2-6, 6-0, 7-5 victory.
Rus opened the first set of the match by holding her serve, and in the second game Dulgheru also won on her serve. As the two players held their serves the score board read as 1-1.
During the third and the fourth game, both the contenders broke each other back t o back to round off the score at 2-2.
 In the fifth game Rus was able to hold her serve but in the sixth as Dulgheru’s forehand went wayward at 30-30, she erred and made a costly mistake, endorsing her adversary with a game.
The seventh game was bagged by Dulgheru as she held her serve and then went on to breaking her opponent in the eighth.
As Dulgheru broke her opponent in the eighth game, she was quick to bag the opening serve, while, restricting her opponent to only two games in the set.
After being beaten in the second game, Dulgheru pulled up her socks and bounced back for a great comeback. As she broke her Dutch adversary in the first game, she shattered Rus’ confidence. By holding her own in the second she easily took the lead of 2-0.
Dulgheru in the following games, not only won on her serves but also on her opponent’s. She broke her opponent in the third game, then in the fifth to secure a lead of 5-0.
As she smashed a couple of winners at 15-15, she clogged the set without much opposition.
By the end of the first two sets, each player had accomplished a set each. The third set was the decisive set. Opening the determining set was Rus and both the players won on alternate games for the first six games to level the score at 3-3.
In the next four games they broke each other back to back twice and tied the score at 5-5. By the end of the eleventh game Rus was broken for the last time at which she was now a break down. With the mini lead, Dulgheru was now serving for the match by smashing an ace at 40-love, she was able to clog the set and the match.
