Alexandra Palace all set to host 2013 Masters snooker event – Snooker News
Previous snooker season had a tremendous finish after the conclusion of the 2012 World Snooker Championship where the Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan was able to win his fourth title after beating the Captain, Ali Carter by the score line of 18-11. Now the snooker
governing body, World Snooker is determined to make the new season more thrilling and enthusiastic with some outstanding competitions.
Meanwhile, World Snooker has decided to extend the contract of some certain events of the new season because the people in the respective regions gave a superb feedback during the tournaments. The Masters snooker event, which is one of the most prestigious
tournaments, is one of them. The event was organised at the Alexandra Palace last year and received a lot of support there.
On the basis of event’s success, World Snooker extended the contract and allowed Alexandra Palace management to host the competition for the next three seasons until 2015. The Masters snooker tournament is one of the Triple Crown of snooker after the World
Snooker Championship and the UK Championship.
In the previous snooker season, the former World Snooker Champion from Australia, Neil Robertson won the 2012 Masters snooker tournament after beating the former champ, England’s Shaun Murphy by the score line of 10-6.
Speaking to the local media, Robertson said, “I think all of the top players are delighted that the Masters has moved to Ally Pally. It's a big arena with 1,500 seats and when it was full it was really buzzing.”
The Thunder from Down Under added, “It was the best atmosphere I've ever played in apart from the world final. I can't wait to get back there and have a crack at defending the title and I hope to see the arena packed out again.”
The Aussie potter is aiming for a superb run once again in the upcoming Masters snooker tournament. The event features top dogs of snooker from around the world and has the top prize money of £150,000. The tournament will commence from January 13 and will
conclude on January 20. Tickets of the event are available on the World Snooker website.
