Alexandre Kaleka returns to the site of his first European Challenge Tour victory
Alexandre Kaleka is set to return to action in a tournament that saw him add the maiden European Challenge Tour title of his resume, when he tees off at this week’s ALLIANZ Open de Lyon.
In 2009, Kaleka decided to turn professional and recorded a professional victory right away at the Allianz EurOpen de Lyon.
This week, he is confident to repeat the heroics that earned him full-time status for the Challenge Tour in 2010.
The Frenchman is currently ranked fourth in the European Challenge Tour Rankings. Visually, it is quite obvious that he will make it to the tier-one European Tour for the second time in his career.
However, Kaleka wants it to be done in a better way. Last month, he defeated Alessandro Tadini and Mark Tullo, and registered the second Challenge Tour victory of his career at the M2M Russian Challenge Cup.
He now plans to add another title to his resume, in a bid to make a strong charge in the rankings. According to the European Tour qualification criteria, the top-20 players from the Challenge Tour will earn full-time cards for the 2013 season.
He is now confident that the memories of his victory, that came just six days after turning professional, will provide him a huge boost in going for the third victory of his career.
“I did not play very well in Spain last week but overall I’m feeling good at the moment,” said Kaleka. “My win here seems like a long time ago but I remembered some shots and some moments when I played in the Pro-Am this week”.
He added, “I'm sure it will be exciting playing here again. The course is looking pretty good this week, given that it is October and sometimes the weather can be a factor. I think it is going to be quite fair. I feel more relaxed going into tournaments
now and I think I am ready to win again”.
Last year, Kaleka failed to prove his mettle on the bigger stage and returned to the Challenge Tour.
This time, his consistent form shows that he is making preparations to stun his opponents, when he will return to the European Tour next season.
