Alexandre Pato does not fear competing against Robinho & Zlatan Ibrahimovic for a spot in Milan’s first-team
AC Milan's prodigy and striking sensation Alexandre Pato is more-than-enthusiastic ahead of the new season. The forward has admitted that he cannot wait to take the field with newbies Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the same time.
The player’s morale has been given a major boost after the two new star players joined the team. The AC Milan star has said that with the inclusion of these new players, Milan can finally give Inter Milan a run for their money.
“We will be a great team,” Pato was quoted by Datasport as saying. “I am sure everything will work out perfectly. We are really ambitious and want to do well both in Serie A and Champions League.”
However, with Massimiliano Allegri yet unsure whether to field all his attacking players at the same time, Pato may be relegated to the bench on a number of occasions.
“I do not fear competition,” added the former Santos youngster. “For me, this is not a problem at all. Actually, it will help us to give our best.
“I am delighted that Robinho has joined us. I have yet to speak to him but I am sure that we will give [a] 100 percent to Milan.”
The forward is clearly looking forward to the new challenge that he will have at hand in the domestic league as well as Europe. However, he knows for a fact that in order to guarantee a first-team spot, he will have to pull together the performances of his life.
Considering Pato is already one of Milan's best performers, the fact that he has said that he will be looking to up his game in the coming weeks can only spell good news for the team. If the player manages to do what he has said, then it won’t be long before there is a goal-fest in the San Siro.
All of this is without considering the fact that the player will be competing with the likes of Ibrahimovic and Robinho, both of whom are world-class performers and will be looking to get their names in the limelight.
Experts are predicting that Milan might just go on to beat their all-time highest goals scored record if the battle between the forwards develops the way it is predicted to. This would not only help Milan launch a more than successful bid to lift the title of being Italian Champions, but would also greatly help the team’s cause to maybe end their barren run in all European competitions.
