    Alexander graduated in 1984 from the Polytechnic Institute in Sofia. He then became a miner, a sailor, an engineer, a free lance journalist, a limousine driver, a tourist guide, and a university lecturer He lives in Paris since 1992. Since 2003 Gradinarov is the chief editor of “Paris News” a Bulgarian weekly published in France www.parisvesti.com .

    Alexander’s struggle against the communist dictature in Bulgaria led him to write his first novel, “Antiperfume” 1993. A monstrous industrial plant produce the “gas of happiness” but that gas kills thousands of people in a neighbouring city. Gradinarov’s second novel, a historical thriller, “Against Attila’s Huns” 1999, also focuses on issues of morality in politics but takes place in Byzantium in the fifth century. Only one small fortress resists Attila’s army (a historical fact) but how? Alexander’s third book, “Satiric History of Bulgarians” in 2004. “Archetype” in 2005. “Archetype” is a psycho-thriller. The novel exploits the mythological origin of the secret message which Leonardo da Vinci tried to endow to future generations. His last book is “French love” from 2006 - short stories about Paris life.

    The son of university professor in metallurgy and of accountant, both polyglots, Alexander grew up in an environment brimming with dissident philosophies, secrets societies and mythology. Bulgarian intellectuals at the time were looking for escapes from communist oppression. Dissidence and heresy became the credo of the future writer. His inspiration was fuelled by some books from the family bookshelf and later by his personal adventures.
