Alexi Ogando and Michael Young shine as Texas Rangers defeat Cleveland Indians 7-4 – MLB Update
Alexi Ogando and Michael Young were on top of their game as the Texas Rangers beat the Cleveland Indians 7-4 on Thursday, September 15 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
The two Rangers’ stars did their best and pulled out a winner for the club in dominating fashion. Ogando pitched brilliantly, while Young went over 100 RBIs in the season with a triple run double in the fifth.
Though Young’s display overshadowed Ogando’s empowering display, things did however look shaky in the second inning. The Texas hurler was on the back end of the wall when he loaded the bases and came within a hitter’s distance of an early exit from the game.
The star ended up pitching 39 deliveries in the single inning.
The problem began when the Indians’ Carlos Santana was walked. Grady Sizemore then pulled off a single, sending Santana to third. Shelley Duncan walked on to first with Sizemore moving to second.
The star was now up against Lonnie Chisenhall and with one out in the inning, things looked bad for Ogando. However, it never got worse as the pitcher struck-out Chisenhall and then Lou Marson to finish the inning without incident. Manager Ron Washington
had a lot to be happy about.
"Competitive juices," Washington described Ogando’s resurgence in the second. "He was in trouble, and he worked his way out of it. From that point on, he threw up four pretty good innings."
Mike Napoli, who played catcher for the night, also made his opinion heard.
"After he got out of that inning, the next inning he came in and he was pretty much shutout," Napoli said. "It was awesome. He knows he's good. He has confidence, and he figured it out."
Ogando finished with six innings, allowing just two hits and two walks. He moved onto his 13th win with his earned run average dropping to 3.58. It was a tremendous performance by Ogando as managed to contain the Indians’ offence with his amazing
pitching. Young also put in a good effort as both players led the Rangers to an impressive win over the Indians.
