Alexi Ogando’s pitching helps Texas Rangers rout Detroit Tigers, 7-3 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers’ starter, Alexi Ogando pitched brilliantly as he threw over seven solid innings with an ERA of 2.10 and struck-out seven batters in the Rangers’ 7-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on June 8.
In the first inning, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead when Don Kelly struck a solo homer (419 feet) towards right-field. No run was added in the second inning as the pitchers threw impressive pitches in perfect areas. On the other hand, the Rangers opened their
scoring account by hitting four runs in the third inning and went ahead 4-1.
Yorvit Torrealba and Chris Davis both contributed first two runs for the Rangers on the throwing error of Kelly. Craig Gentry hit a grounder towards third base. Elvis Andrus and Gentry posted the last two runs of the third inning when Josh Hamilton doubled
to deep right-field.
In the fourth inning, Torrealba scored one run on the single-run shot of Andrus off centre-field and Davis moved to second base in no time. The score-board was 5-1 at the end of fourth. Michael Young added one run when Adrian Beltre singled to left-field
and extended the Rangers’ lead 6-1 in the fifth inning.
During the sixth inning, no run was added from any batter. Ogando permitted just one run on six hits with one earned run and gave two walks on 110 pitches. Ogando commented on the game and said, “I fell behind in the count. I left the pitch right over the
plate. But I never gave up. I never got my head down. I just kept throwing and kept battling. I just wanted to keep my composure.”
Seventh inning again went in favour of the Rangers as Beltre hit a one-run homer (377 feet) towards left-field to give his team a 7-1 lead. The batters failed to score even a single run during the eighth inning as the pitchers delivered extraordinary pitches
in good line.
Austin Jackson doubled to deep centre and Jhonny Peralta posted one run. The last run of the game was taken by Alex Avila when Kelly was grounded out to third base. The score-board was 7-3 after the ninth inning.
