Alexi Ogando’s shutout innings helps Texas Rangers defeat Chicago White Sox, 4-0 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers’ starter, Alexi Ogando had a notable day as he pitched right through the game and struck-out six batters in the Rangers’ 4-0 victory against the Chicago White Sox at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on May 23.
Ogando did not give away a run on five hits and threw nine innings with an ERA of 1.81. He permitted three walks on his 115 pitches. Ogando expressed his feelings and said, “You're never thinking about that. But if you work hard and do your job, anything
can happen. I know that I'm getting more and getting more experience. I feel more confident every time I get out there.”
The Rangers got off the mark in the first inning and led off 1-0 when Josh Hamilton hit a solo homer to right-field. The pitchers threw the ball in perfect areas from the second to the fifth inning and did not permit even a single run to the batters. The
score-card was unmoved at the end of the fifth inning.
During the sixth inning, Nelson Cruz struck a home run towards left-field and Adrian Beltre singled off to deep centre to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead. On the other hand, the White Sox batters were unable to play the tricky pitches of Ogando and went score-less.
The seventh inning passed away without a score for both sides.
Hamilton scored a single run on the sacrifice bunt of Beltre in the eighth inning and the Rangers extended their lead to 4-0. No score was added in the ninth inning from either side. Hamilton was pleased with his performance as he said, “It was good to get
it out of the way, good to get that nervousness over.”
The White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski got out without adding a run for his team and went 1-for-3 with the bat. He said of John Danks, “He threw the ball well, but made a couple mistakes, missed his location a couple of times. He's giving up a lot of 0-2
hits on mistakes. It's almost like he's throwing too many strikes.”
Danks was shaky with the ball as he pitched eight innings with an ERA of 4.34 and allowed four runs on nine hits including four earned runs. He struck out three batters and gave away two walks on 105 pitches.
