Alexia Heist – Player Profile
Alexia Heist is a brilliant setter and captain of the Eastwood High School volleyball team, who has done tremendously well for the Troopers in recent years. This year, she settled for the honours of All-City Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Setter of Year.
She spent a successful season and staged an eye-catching action on the court. She completed the year with 821 assists and committed only 12 passing errors in the entire season, which is pretty impressive. Additionally, she is also credited with 259 digs, 60
aces and 163 kills for Troopers. Heist has also been named to the All-City team four times in her career.
Currently, she has emerged as the top player of El Paso Volleyball on account of her ultra competitiveness in the game. Eastwood Troopers achieved a consecutive 30-win mark in the season and Heist played an instrumental role in helping the team touch greater
heights. As a captain, she did a wonderful job of keeping the team united and focused on victory.
Victory is only thing on her mind all the time. She hates to lose in anything. This how she describes herself: "I can't tell myself to let up because then someone is better than I am." She gets so distressed about missed points that she can replay rallies
hit by hit from months ago and pin down what she should have done better. She is known for certain degree of recklessness on the court, not just to get a win but to keep a play alive. During a big district match against Franklin, she had seven diving digs
with one arm. Moreover, she ran into the scoreboard to save the ball and also made a pass from out of bounds on the other side of the net.
This prominently explains that how a 5-foot-6 girl got recruited to set at TCU, which is a Big 12 programme in a conference where many coaches won't look at any setter shorter than 6 feet. However, Heist made it to the TCU due to her dynamic personality.
What others say about her
Eastwood Head Coach Aaron Bajek totally acknowledges the skills of Heist. Likewise, the teammates are quite fond of her company. "She's pretty amazing," teammate Alysha Blanco has said.
Besides the team coach and fellow players, Heist is praised by others for her qualities. The Head Coach of Flo Valdez, Franklin coach Flo, says "She makes everyone around her better and does everything well,"
Family person
Off the court, Heist is full of life. She shares a great bond with her father Chuck Heist. Together, they play table tennis, watch football games, and throw grapes off the wall. Heist has two sisters, Alyssa and Andrea, and plays Blink with them. Heist uses
the competitive edge and does not let any one win.
As a student
She is not only a good sports person but also a hard working student. She is currently No. 12 in her class and is still trying to improve.
Now that school’s regular season is over and the club-play has not started yet, but Heist does not want to stop. She openly admits that she cannot sit on the bench, doing nothing. Lately, she has been working with a trainer, in order to prepare for college
against girls a half-foot taller.
