Alexianne Castel pockets Women’s 200m backstroke semi-final: Day two – European LC Championships
Alexianne Castel of France pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 200m backstroke on day two of the European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Tuesday, May 22.
Castel devastated hopes of her challengers in the distant backstroke discipline and spoiled the party of her challengers by winning gold medal of the event.
With her epic pace, she remained considerably ahead of her challengers and tapped the finishing end for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 08.41 seconds.
Her astonishing effort remained 1.14 seconds faster from Jenny Mensing of Germany, who accomplished silver medal of the event by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 09.55 seconds.
Third spot of the event was chased by Duane Da Rocha Marce of Spain, who was only 0.01 seconds slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 09.56 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Daryna Zevina of Ukraine, who failed to secure any spot on the podium and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 09.57 seconds.
Zevina was chased by Melanie Nocher of Ireland, who remained almost full body length apart and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 10.75 seconds.
Subsequently, Nocher was chased by Simona Baumrtova of Czech Republic, who stayed 0.10 seconds apart and finished sixth in the event by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 10.85 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Alessia Filippi of Italy, who was 0.35 second behind and touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.20 seconds.
Last spot of the race was secured by Anja Carman of Slovenia, who stayed 1.31 seconds away from overpowering her preceding swimmer and earned eighth position by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 12.51 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders received awards and accolades for their commendable efforts in the 200m discipline at the medal distribution ceremony of the championship. In addition, the championship will end on May 27 after the conclusion of all events.
