Alexis Thompson charges in at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters
Where Michelle Wie played as one of the pin-up lures at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters yesterday, Alexis Thompson appeared on the field being no less than a carbon copy of the well known star long-hitter but performing just a notch
better.
The young American appeared at the Emirates Golf Club on the 8th of December and managed to display the same vigour and spirit Wie did when she charged the golfing world after her debut.
Wie stepped into the battle fields seven years ago and electrified the entire course with her impressive and unique striking abilities. The twenty one year old female golfer managed to pull together an impressive resume and stood
as a substantial threat to even the male golfers around her.
As for Thompson, she is the same age as Wie when she turned professional, 15. The young golfer has collected a total of US $ 336,000 from the number of events she has played and has managed to remove any doubts about her talent.
The fifteen year old golfer from America thus stands at the thirty fourth position in the money list rankings and has played a total of 6 professional tournaments. With Thompson allowed to play by the LPGA, she now steps into the
Emirates GC to run in contention for the € 500,000 prize money.
According to the young striker, her hard work seems to have paid off. Regarding her future strategy, the fifteen year old said that she won’t be running ahead that much and explained that she would be tackling each event one by
one and would rather fight each event as it is thrown at her.
The American golfer has also managed to grab a place at the US Open top ten and said that her optimism knows no bounds. If confidence is the key for survival, then Thompson is well prepared for the fight in Dubai.
As far as her competition with Wie is concerned, the fifteen year old American would need a rather flawless striking poise, posture and drive since Wie will be bringing her best.
“I would try to win here” Wie said.
The 21-year old female golfer finished in the runner up position one year ago in her last appearance at Dubai and is hoping to top the leader board with one above this time at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.
