  1. My Dad has a Alfa 159 with the JTD engine, and hasn't had any problems yet (touch wood), he doesn't thrash the car though. He makes sure that he clears the deposits out of the engine every fortnight using Castrol stuff. He also ensures that all of the water, oil etc levels are topped up. He loves the car, and it's returning 50mpg on longer journeys, and we've seen 56mpg on the motorway once! It does drop to 37mpg in town, but that'spretty good still. His old t spark cut out a few times over the couple of years he had it, it just lost power when it felt like it for some reason.

  2. Good unbiased info here - doesn't look like the engines are the most unreliable bit;

  3. the JTD is a cracking engine ive had my 156 jtd 2.4 for 18 months ..reliable...economical and good performance...doesnt use water or oil  and its year 2000 with 125k on...sadly its for sale now due to the purchase of an auto for the wife to learn to drive but I will concider a newer alfa jtd next year.
