Alfatwelldigger upsets Droopys Ulick in the 515m Grade A2 race at Hove
The 515 metres Grade A2 race at Hove was won by, Alfatwelldigger on Sunday, January 15, 2012. He was not the favourite to win, but surprised quite a few bettors with his speed. The victory earned him a cash prize of £129.
Alfatwelldigger needed a good start in order to challenge the favourite, Droopys Ulick.

He swept past him, and carried the momentum until the end, completing the total distance in 30.18 seconds.
The W.R. Wrighting trained dog entered the race from trap number one, and had a starting price of 5 to 1. He is the son of Hondo Dingle out of Riverside Polly, and was born in May 2008.
Droopys Ulick, who was the favourite with a starting price of 6 to 4, fell 0.05 seconds adrift of the race winner. He ran with decent speed, but Alfatwelldigger proved to be the quicker of the two in the end.
Droopys Ulick, trained by S.A. Cahill, completed the race distance in 30.23 seconds, after breaking in from trap number two. He is the son of College Causeway out of Droopys Geneva, and was born in August 2009.
Third place went to Swift Lesson, who had entered the race from trap number four. He had a starting rate of 9 to 4, and completed the total distance in 30.30 seconds.
Swift Lesson was trained by A.E. Gardiner, and he is the son of Kinloch Brae out of Swift Blitz. He was born in February 2009.
There was a close competition between the fourth and fifth placed hounds, as they were only separated by a neck’s distance.

Da Begger covered the race distance in 30.41 seconds, after popping out from trap number three. With the starting price of 8 to 1, he was not expected to challenge the front runners.
Da Begger is trained by J.J. Heath, and he is the son of Crash out of Fryers Glory, born in September, 2008.
The lone b***h participating in the race, Fabulous Acclaim, took the fifth spot, after breaking in from trap number five.

Her finishing time was 30.44 seconds. She is trained by J.E. Gammon and was born in January 2010.
The least favourite hound, Guinness Fantasy completed the order of finish. He was way too slow compared to the rest of the pack, and completed the total distance in 30.87 seconds. The S.A. Cahill trained dog was born in January 2009.
Overall, the race was a good one for the spectators, as there was good competition between the top two finishers.

However, people who had placed their bet on the favourite dog would have been dejected with the outcome.
