Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, John Parry surges to early lead

John Parry surged to an early lead in the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, with a score of 65. He was chased by Martin Erlandsson in the second place.
The second round of the championship, which takes place every year, in October on the triplet courses of Scotland ended yesterday with moderate scores for the Ryder Cup team and the defending champion. Six of the squad members managed to
post an under par score, whereas, three hovered over par.
John Parry, who hails from England, stood at the top most spot of the leader board when the winners of the Ryder Cup were thinking about the ways to break the par. The 23-year-old wanted to be a part of the biannual event but failed to qualify.
He needed a victory at the European tour to qualify for the contention.
The player, who turned professional in 2007, was a team mate of Rory McIlroy at the 2007 Walker Cup, where the duo declared victory. Rory McIlroy on the other hand gave a terrible performance with one-over-par. He shared the score with Edoardo Molinari and
was chased by Peter Hanson at three over.
Parry was a total surprise for the   spectators when he jumped from the second group into the first place with a margin of four strokes. He was very happy with his putting and was confident that the winner's prize will fall in his hands. Talking to the press
Parry said, "It's nice to be here and I've holed putts from everywhere”.
Moreover, Parry was planning another shopping trip with the prize money of £502,000 which he was confident that he will win. Last time at Vivendi Cup, where he won the cheque of £170,000, he bought a Vauxhall Astra with it, due to his bad driving skills.
Strange but his driving is superb on the tee.
Parry said, “I would have bought something a bit nicer, but I've only just learnt to drive, so the insurance companies don't seem to like me at the minute - and my parking's not very good".
Parry and McIlroy turned professional in the same year. However, the English boy could not make it out of the qualifying school while the young Irish met instant success on the European tour.
According   to the player, he did not have money at the advent of the Vivendi Cup, but his manager supported him and in result he made an appearance in Paris and won. Moreover, after winning yet another title at the Challenge Tour, Parry graduated from the
Q- School to enter the main circuit.
As for Rory McIlroy, he seems drained after the Ryder Cup although he was the betting favourite for the event. The 21-year-old started the first round with a 71 and dropped all the way to 74. According to the experts, he was seen struggling on the downwind
holes and most of all, his energy was lingering at the lowest point. Certain behaviour was quite expected from the Ryder Cup team due to fatigue.
Rory McIlroy was depressed with his performance, but he praised the world’s 117th
ranked player. He said, "It's taken him maybe a bit longer to develop than some of the other guys from the Walker Cup three years ago, but he's a great player and with a win under his belt he's obviously become a lot more comfortable out in this environment".
John Parry has surged to an early lead after scoring 67 in the first round and 65 in the second. He composed this score, while the nine members of the Ryder Cup team along with their vice-captain and striker were seen trailing behind. Parry teed off on Old
Course at St Andrews which is spread over 7,279 yards.
