  1. solve for x?...

    x^2+0=0+10

    x^2=0+10-0 (10)

    x^2= 10

    x= (square root of) 10

  2. better use the quadratic formula

  3. x = 0, 10 use the quadratic formula.....

  4. Since the 0 on the left hand side doesn't play any role, the equation can be written as

    x^2 - 10x =0

    Then, factor out the x

    x(x-10)=0

    Now it has become a multiplication of two numbers : x and (x-10). The result of a multiplication is 0 only if either of the numbers is 0. Therefore, either x=0 or x-10=0. The second one will be 0 only if x=10.

    So, the solution is x=0 or x=10.
