Is Alge Crumpler a TE sleeper?

His 67-yard, 2-TD game in Week 17 boosted his 2007 stats. Is he headed for fantasy resurgence with Vince Young or is he one step away from following Joe Horn into obscurity?

  1. No doubt Alge Crumpler has some fuel left in the tank. This guy is a great athlete and although his production has slipped the past few seasons, I think his week 17 performance shows the upside that he has.

Based on where you can draft this guy, I think he's a solid pick mainly because the reward outweighs the risk. I think Vince Young will view him as a solid redzone threat mainly because Tennessee's receiving group is nothing spectacular.

So all possibilities considered, I'd consider this guy a "Midwestern Treasure" for now.

  2. I think he's a sleeper that will help Vince look good for a few games.  However I wouldn't count on him as my primary TE, and I'm not completely sold on Vince's worth (even as a backup).

  3. Alge Crumpler will return to being one of the top TE's in football this year if he can stay healthy. People complain about Crumpler's dropoff last year, but what a lot of people don't know is that then Falcons head coach Bobby Petrino didn't exactly run a favorable offense for receiving tight ends. He used Alge more for taking up space so the receivers could get open rather than the actual offensive threat that he is.

Just like he was great with Michael Vick, he will be great with Vince Young in an offense that made Bo Scaife look decent last year.
