I have a 24 foot above ground pool. Since I bought the house about two years ago I can not get the walls of the pool to stay clean. The rest of the pool is perfectly clean and clear. It's just in the wrinkles of the wall that alge collects. I keep my chemical levels mantained and shock every Sunday. When I've used algecide it doesnt seem to kock it out. Is there something I can do to stop this or is this just something I cant help?

  1. alge is very presistant, espescially if its in the sunlight, it's not gonna kill you, but whenever our fishtank grows alge, we clean the tank with vinegar and it seems to help, it's natural and theres no chemicals to irritate your skin while you're swimming

  2. algae will always be a problem in pools.i have an 18 foot above ground easy set pool. i have found that using double the recommended amounts of algaecide keeps algae at bay.having a pool that size, im sure you know the importance of maintenance. be perstiant with with algaecide and use it even when no algae is visable.location, environment, and climate are all factors in a good maintenance program. nearby trees dropping debris into the pool will promote algae growth.whereas sunlight will reduce chlorine content.when the algae turns brown, its dead but will re spawn if not removed.brush all surfaces of the pool and allow everything to settle for a day, then vacuum. i have found that my paper filter cartridges will not catch all the dead algae, so i dump the water as i vacuum.use a good test kit with at least 5 or more tests per strip(i test my water every 3 days)and add ch ems as needed ...hope this helps and happy swimming!!!

  3. make sure your pH level is right, also make sure you use stabilizer to maintain the chlorine level, without it the sun removes the chlorine fast, fix the pH,vacuum the walls scrub if needed, and you will be fine.i use 2 small boxes of baking soda a week to maintain my pH.

  4. Corey you are not keeping your pool water balanced.  Start by back flushing your pool filter.    Go to Home center, walmart and buy 2,  12 lb. bags of Baking Soda and 3  1lb bags of pool shock treatment.  Follow directions on bag, and add baking soda it will need about the entire amount.  Wait 24 hours and add shock to pool  water. After this to keep your pool algae free you also need a Chlorine dispenser for you Chlorine which will cost about $10.00.  Buy 4" tablets.

    Good Luck

  5. sounds like your ph levels are off. i had that problem and it was the ph levels. my advice, take in a sample of the water to a pool place and let them test it. they can give you somthing to prevent that. thats what i had to do.
