x + 2 / 9 = 5

y + 1 / 3 = 2

how do u do problems like that? i have to solve them

  1. you need to get the variable by itself.

    so for the first example, x + 2/9 = 5 you would subtract 2/9 from each side.  so it would be x = 5 - 2/9. which equals 4 7/9.

    and the second example is y = 2 - 1/3 which equals 1 2/3.

  2. ok... i'm learning the exact same thing in school. so this is great practice! i don't want to give the answer but try the steps.

    1. subtract 2/9 to get x alone

    2. subtract 2/9 by 5

    ( to do # 2 make 5, 5/1 then subtract)

    3. ta da ____ = x

    the next problem is the same basic idea, hope this helps!

  3. u should be looking for the value of the variable in each of the two equations. So u should get x on one side of the equation by itself and same with y. So u subtract 2/9 from each side cause u have to do things to both sides so the first one is x= 43/9. The second one is y = 5/3
