  1. The first term is when n = 1, the second is when n = 2 and so on until the fifth term is when n = 5.  So, let n be each of these values to find the first five terms in the sequence.

    An = 10n

    1st term = 10*1 = 10

    2nd term = 10*2 = 20

    3rd term = 10*3 = 30

    4th term = 10*4 = 40

    5th term = 10*5 = 50

    An = (1/2)n

    1st tem = (1/2)*1 = 1/2

    2nd term = (1/2)*2 = 1

    3rd term = (1/2)*3 = 3/2

    4th term = (1/2)*4 = 2

    5th term = (1/2)*5 = 5/2

    An = n + 8

    1st tem = 1 + 8 = 9

    2nd term = 2 + 8 = 10

    3rd term = 3 + 8 = 11

    4th term = 4 + 8 = 12

    5th term = 5 + 8 = 13

    An = 14 - n

    1st tem = 14 - 1 = 13

    2nd term = 14 - 2 = 12

    3rd term = 14 - 3 = 11

    4th term = 14 - 4 = 10

    5th term = 14 - 5 = 9

    An = 4n - 3

    1st tem = 4*1 - 3 = 1

    2nd term = 4*2 - 3 = 5

    3rd term = 4*3 - 3 = 9

    4th term = 4*4 - 3 = 13

    5th term = 4*5 - 3 = 17

    An = 3n + 1

    1st tem = 3*1 + 1 = 4

    2nd term = 3*2 + 1 = 7

    3rd term = 3*3 + 1 = 10

    4th term = 3*4 + 1 = 13

    5th term = 3*5 + 1 = 16

    Hope this helps you!

  2. Plug 1,2,3,4,5 into each problem

    an=10n

    a(1)=10

    a(2)=20

    a(3)=30

    a(4)=40

    a(5)=50

    1) So the sequence is

    10,20,30,40,50...

    The rest i will do in my head but its the same idea.

    2) 5, 2.5, 1.25,. 75, .375...

    3) 9,10,11,12,13...

    4) 13,12,11,10,9...

    5) 1,5,9,13,17...

    6) 4,7,10,13,16...

    Hope that helps
