  1. no it doesnt theyre the same station

  2. distance = speed x time

    A= distance train A travels= 40 t where t is in hours

    B= distance train B travels = 48t

    Know that both trains pass the same station 15 minutes apart, so can find out how far Train A has travelled in 15 minutes ( how far ahead it is)

    A= 40 * 0.25= 10 miles

    Now train B has to close the 10 mile gap

    the difference in speed between train A and train B= 8MPH (train B is travelling this much faster

    Now the equation is: B (distance train B travels)= 10= (48-40)t

    solve for t

    10=8t

    t= 10/8= 1.25 hours= 1 hour and 15 mins= 75 mins

    9:30 PM + 1 hr 15 mins= 10:45 PM

  3. This really depends on the distance between stations, or the time it takes to get to each station.

  4. Ans 10.45pm

    At 9.15 pm, Train B was 12 miles behind(48/(15/60))

    Relative speed = 48-40 = 8

    Time = 12 / 8 = 1 hour 30min after 9.15pm = 10.45pm
