  1. srry I had problems with that last  year

    I hate math

  2. The first one divide both sides by -6  ... first change -3/5 into - .6

    soo.  it turns out that  x= .1

    =]

    Theres the first one for you!

    Casey*

  3. -A = -X

    -6x= -3/5

    Divide!

    -1/6*-3/5= X= 1/10

    X= 1/10

    Y= MX+B

    104/11= x+10

    Subtract 10 to Y(140/11)

    140/ 11 -10/1= 140/11 -110/11 Y= -30/11

    -30/11=X

    Y= MX+B

    -1-3x= -4

    Add 1 to the other side

    -4+1= -3

    -3x= -3

    Switch!

    3= 3x

    Divide!

    1=X

    Y= MX+B

    2(1/5x+1/8)= 37/20

    2/5x+1/4= 37/20

    Subtract 1/4 to 37/20

    37/20-1/4= 37/20-5/20= 32/20

    2/5x=32/20

    Divide!

    5/2*32/20= 4/1

    X= 4

  4. ab3rchro...'s answers are all correct.

  5. just thinking about figuring something like that out makes my brain hurt....sorry

  6. 1.)-6x = -3/5

    (5)-6x = -3

    -30x = -3

    1/10

    2.)104/11 = x+10

    (11)104/11 = 11(x+10)

    104= 11x+110

    -6 = 11x

    x= -6/11

    3.)-1 - 3x = -4

    -3x = -3

    x=1

    4.)2(1/5x + 1/8) = 37/20

    2/5x + 2/8 = 37/20

    37/20 - 2/8

    74/40 - 10/40

    64/40 = 2/5x

    (5)64/40 = 320/40 = 2x

    32/4= 8

    8 = 2x

    x=4

  7. -6x = -3/5 multiply both sides by 5

    -30x = -3 divide both sides by -30

    x = 0.1 <--final answer

    104/11 = x+10 multiply both sides by 11

    104 = 11x + 110 subtract 110 from both sides

    -6 = 11x divide both sides by 11

    -6/11 = x <---final answer, can convert to decimal if asked

    -1 -3x = -4 add 1 to both sides

    -3x = -3 divide both sides by 3

    x=1 <--final answer

    2(1/5x + 1/8) = 37/20 simplify left side

    2/5x + 2/8 = 37/20 subtract 2/8 from both sides

    2/5x = 37/20 - 2/8 simplify right side and subtract or find LCD then simply

    2/5x = 1.6 multiply both sides by 5x

    2=8x divide both sides by 8

    1/4=x <---final answer, can convert to decimal if question asks.

  8. ok, first rule is BODMAS.  stands for Brackets, Orders(square etc), Division, Multiplication, Add, Subtract.  its the orden that you must do your calculations.

    so the first on you need to get the X on its own so you divide both sides by -6. so -6x divided my -6x = x. -3/5 divided by -6 = (use your calculator) 0.1.  therefor x = 0.1.

    104/11 = 9.5 then you have x + 10 so you need to take 10 from each side.  9.5 - 10 = -0.5, and x+10 - 10 = x. therefor x = -0.5.

    -1 - 3x = -4x.  then you divide by -4 to get x on its own.  -4x divided by -4 = 1. and -4x divided by -4 = x.  therefor x = 1.

    lastly... back to BODMAS.  do the brackets before anything else (B).  so  get the stuff inside out, by multiplying whats inside by the number directly before.  so 1/5x multiplied by 2 = 0.4x and +1/8 multiplied by 2 = 0.25.  so your equation is now     0.4x + 0.25 = 37/20 (or 1.85).  now you need the X on its own so one step at a time.  from the right side you need to lose the 0.25 so take it from both sides.  0.4x + 0.25 subtract 0.25 = 0.4x  and the left side is 1.85 subtract 0.25 = 1.6.  new equation is 0.4x = 1.6.  now you need to divide both sides by 0.4 to get x on its own.  so 0.4x divided by 0.4 = x and 1.6 divided by 0.4 = 4. therefor x = 4.

    hope this helps you (:

    im pretty sure its all right.

    redo all the calculations to make sure i never made any typing errors in the calculator and go through it to help you understand.

    good luck!

  9. -6x = -3/5 (you multiply for 5 the entire equation)

    -30x = -3 (take the number to the other side )

    x = -3 / -30

    X = 1/10

    ____________________________

    -1 -3x = -4 (put the number thats alone on the other side)

    -3x = -4 + 1

    -3x = -3

    x = -3 / -3

    x = 1
