I have this math question that is the following:

y= -x - (-5)

and i changed it into 'add the opposite...

y= -x + 5

and we're doing input/output. also known as function and domain...

well, one of the input is -2.

so if i were to substitute the -x to -2...

would the negative from the -x cancel out the negative from the -2?

i really need to know!

i'm thinking that it just stays negative two, but i'm not one-hundred percent on that. ten easy points!

  1. yes

    in the expression -x

    if x=-2

    then -x=2

  2. So the equation would turn to:

    y= -(-2) + 5

    right?

    So you do the same thing.  Two negatives multiplied equal a postivie.

    y = 2 + 5

  3. ummm....x+pie= the radius of an ocillis triangle
