  1. This is a very simple question. I will explain a rule that will make this easy for you in the future. If you see a letter alone, like m, that means 1 x m. If you see 2m, that's 2 x m, etc. Therefore, you can place an imaginary 1 in the equation. So, we'll try that. 1m - 2m = -1m

You know this because of the number line - which is anchored at 0, and moves to the right as positive numbers and to the left as negative numbers in the sequence 1,2,3...infinity.

  2. Negative m.

  3. you have one cookie

    you take two away

    how many are left?

    negative one.

someone would actually be oweing you a cookie.

which sounds yummy right now. (:

  4. m - 2m

    = 1m - 2m

    = (1 - 2)(m)

    = -1(m)

    = -m

  5. -m
