1. (8x² +2x +1) - (-5x² +6)

2.-9 +6y -4y²+ 2y+ y² +5 + 5y²

3.5x² +3x - 8x2 -7 +9x + 12

4.(x²-9x +6) + (8x² - 2x +4)

  1. im sry ana i didnt get u ra

  2. 1. call a friend

    2. ask a parent/neighbor

    3. ask the teacher before school

  3. GO TO CLASS!!!

  4. what grade math is this?

  5. these are grade 8 sums??? I'm in standard 8 too but we were taught this in class 6! Anyways...

1] open the brackets. - (-5x² +6) will become +5x² - 6 as the signs will change as there's a minus outside the bracket.Pair up the like terms and the equation will become: 8x²+5x²+1-6+2x

                                               =13x²-5+2x

Solve all the other problems this way.

p.s: I love american schools, studies are so easy! Here in india, its too difficult!!

  6. I understand how it is when your absent, I usualy get sick and cannot attend school for most days and now im in 11th grade and still in Algebra 1...

    :(

Yah I feels sorry for myself

Im not very good at explaning things but here it goes...

For the 1st problem ... the like terms are 8x....

OMG I cannot figure out a way to say it without it confusing you....sorry

  7. "Like" terms are parts of the expression who have the same variable and the same power. For example, 4x^2 and 3x^2 are like terms, but 4x^2 and 3x are not, and neither are 4x^2 and 3y^2. They don't have to have variables either. -10 and 14 are like terms, but -10 and 14x aren't. You see the difference? I'll walk you through the first one,a dn see if you can do the rest on your own.

    (8x^2 + 2x + 1) - (-5x^2 + 6)

If you multiply the negative sign all the way through, you can get rid of the parentheses. Be very careful when doing this. Pretend that you're multiplying everything in the parentheses by -1.

    8x^2 + 2x + 1 + 5x^2 - 6

It will probably make it easier if you group the liek terms right up next to each other:

    8x^2 + 5x^2 + 2x - 6 + 1

Now, do the first set of like terms:

    13x^2 + 2x - 6 + 1

Now you can do the second

    13x^2 + 2x - 5

There aren't anymore like terms, so you're done. It looks like a lot of work, but once you get into it, it will be very natural.
