  1. they're two different subjects, with some overlap of course, which is why they are usually combined into one class.

  2. i think theyre different things...

  3. well they're not the same thing, but some schools have algebra 2 classes that cover trigonometry. However they're not called algebra 2 and trigonometry class. I took Algebra 2 and it had some trigonometry at the end.

  4. Totally different things, and yes you do sound like an idiot.  (jk)

  5. My school grouped these subjects into one class under the acronym AAT (Advanced Algebra & Trigonometry). It was the normal high school junior level math course at my school, which covered things like polynomials, series & sequences, as well as basic trigonometry, including, but not limited to the unit circle.

It followed freshman algebra and geometry, but was immediately before CAT (College Algebra & Trigonometry; basically Precalculus).

  6. That would depend on which country and state you are in. Also on what school you go to. In New South Wales in Australia (this is the Australian Yahoo Answers), there is no class called "Algebra II" or "Trigonometry".

If you are in a senior year they are probably taught in the same course.

  7. Really depends on who you ask or what state you're taking the class in.  Many times in Algebra 2, they will cover trig, but algebra is not the same as trig.

Trig deals specifically with right triangle ratios (sine, cosine, tangent, etc.) and variations on that topic.

Algebra covers a lot of different broader topics, focusing mostly on solving equations, but also graphing, logarithms, exponential functions, basic arithmetic and geometric sequences and series.

to summarize... sometimes in algebra 2 they will cover a bit of trig.  But algebra is not the same thing as trig.

    Take care,

    David

  8. No, algebra II are two different classes.

Algebra involves lots of equations and solving for functions.

Trig involves shapes and sin cos and tan and graphs.

  9. no there not trigonometry has more to do with triangles and the relationships between the sides and angles algebra 2 is just an better version of algebra like equations and stuff
