1.  Get all the terms with x on one side of the equation, and everything else on the other:

2b - 3c = xy - x

2b - 3c = x(y - 1) (factor x from the RHS)

(2b - 3c) / (y - 1) = x (divide by y - 1)

x = (2b - 3c) / (y - 1)  

2.  Let T be the normal temperature:

|T - 98.6| &lt;= 1  (which means that tolerance of the normal temperature around 98.6 is less than or equal to 1)
