  1. Let the cost of the green fees for each person is $ x, so they have paid $4x for green fees

    Two of the friends have paid $6 each for rented clubs, so that is a total of $12 cost of the rented clubs.

    So, 4x +12=76 (green fees + cost of rented clubs = total cost)

    4x = 76 -12

    4x = 64

    x=64 /4

    x=16

    Hope this helps ;)

  2. Total cost = cost of rentals + cost of green fees

    Since only 2 of them rented clubs, their rental cost is 2*6=12.

    All four of them had to pay green fees so let g represent the green fees, and your equation becomes:

    76=12+4g

    76-12=4g

    64=4g

    64/4 = g

    so g= $16
