Don't worry I don't do this just to get answers from homework.

I would like some explanation on how to solve this, please.

A discount store bought 12 dozen radios, each to be sold at $15 above cost. The store sold x of the radios at that price. Each of the remaining radios was sold at $4 below cost. If the store paid $11 for each radio, what was the total income from the sale? (Hint: Income = Sales - Cost)

  1. i think u problem has some mistake .... if u don't know how much you sold.. u can't solve for income........ i mean u don't know how many radios u sell by $ 15 and how many radio remaining.. so u can't solve for income...........

    i hope this can help u

  2. The store bought 12 radios at $11 each so it cost them altogether, $132.

    Now, they sold x amount for $26 ($15 above cost) so:

    26x

    Next, they sold the rest for $7 and remembering that we had 12 to begin with:

    7(12 - x)

    Therefore, your function is:

    Income = [26x - 7(12 - x)] - 132

    Income = 26x - 84 + 7x - 132

    Income = 33x - 216

    Where x is the number of radios sold at $15 above cost.
