Okay,, so i'm back with a few more problems that I don't understand. Your help is greatly appreciated :D My teacher doesn't explain stuff very well =/ so if you could explain how to do these problems that would be awesome!

Solve each equation and check your solutions to these absolute value problems:

1.) 4 |4x-9|=24

2.) |8+p|=2p-3

3.) 4|2y-7|+5=9

4.)2|4-s|= -3s

5.) 5 |2r+3|-5=0

6.) |x-87.5|=1.5

7.) |3u-6|=42

Please help :( I had so many problems like these for homework.. These are just a few that I don't understand.

  1. Basically, what absolute value means is, it's the distance that number is from zero. So, if you had, for example, |-45| (the absolutely value of negative 45,) the answer would be 45, because although it's a negative 45, it's still 45 spaces away from zero, just as a positive 45 would be.

    hope that helps.

  2. just do it both ways.  for example:

    4 |4x-9|=24

    solve for x:

    4 (4x-9)=24 and 4 (-4x+9)=24

    x=15/4 and x=3/4

  3. This is quite easy...

    I kinda fell bad till you go to Geometry/Alg 2....
