Algebra help?? please?? today was my first day in algebra so idk how to do this????

Question

i was originally in pre-algebra but it became to easy so now i am in algebra and today was my first day. well i did my first assignment and now i am completely done except two problems. please help how do i do this??

1. (6+y)(-2)

2. (4a-5) (2c)

it says use distributive property to simplify.. please help due september 3rd!

It is a simple Problem, it is telling you to multiply the two together.

The variables cannot be combined under addition or subtraction with the numbers.  To use the distributive property you would break down the problem like so; (-2)(6+y), if broken down would be done with -2 * 6 and -2 * y.  -2 * 6 = -12 and -2 * y = -2y.  Therefore your answer would be (-12 + -2y) -12 - 2y (remember variables cannot be combined with numbers under the addition or subtraction property; A variable is a symbol that represents a number i.e., n, x, etc.).

The second question would be done the same, Multiple 2c * 4a and 2c * -5.  The answers would be 2c*4a = 8ac and 2c * -5 = -10c, thus the answer would be (8ac + -10c) 8ac - 10c.
