I'm so lost on this one...

4/5(10) = 3/2y - 4

I don't know how to multiply the fraction by 10. Is it 10x4 and 10x5?

Or 4x1 and 5x10? Please help. The 4/5 and 3/2 are fractions by the way.

Thanks to everyone that answers.

  1. If you're doing (4/5) x 10 then this becomes 40/5.

    To check do 4/5 which gives 0.8 then mutiply by 10 to get 8.

    Then try 40/5 which gives 8 also.

    When you type 3/2y, do you mean '3 divided by 2y' or '3/2 times y'?

  2. 4/5(10) = 3/2y - 4

    ok so its be like saying 4/5 x 10/1

    you know how thats possible right?

    so itd be 40/5 which is 8

    when the numbers NOT a fraction

    you multiply it with the numerator[one on top]

    and just in case ill finish the problem...i have OCD...i have to finish it...lol

    so 8= 3/2y -4

    2[8=3/2y -4]

    16 = 3y - 8

    24 = 3y

    y = 8

  3. you could convert 4/5 into a decimal, that's what i do...4/5 is .8 then .8x10 which is 8
