  1. no if you work it out it comes to x^4 -12y + 36y^2 = x^4 - 36y^2

  2. No. Think of it this way: when you have 3^2, what does that mean? It means 3 x 3, right?

When you have 45^2, what does that mean? Also 45 x 45.

So if you have (x^2 - 6y)^2, this means the same thing as:

    (x^2 - 6y)(x^2 - 6y). Multiply together to get x^4 + 36y^2 - 12x^2y.

  3. You left out the middle term.Since you are squaring the term you multiply it by itself.

    (x^2 - 6y)(x^2 - 6y)....use FOIL if you know it.

    x^4 - 12x^2y + 36y^2
