  1. An explanation of what?  If x= - 3/2, then you're right, you just plug in -3/2 for x in the f(x) eq

    ((-3/2)-1)^2 + 4

    (-5/2)^2 + 4

    25/4 + 4

    f(-2/3) = 41/4 or 10 1/4
