  1. ok bus drivers = x

    96=x+5x+3(5x)+[3(5x)-12]

    96 = 36x-12

    108 = 36x

    3 = x

  2. 3 DRIVERS

    15 PARENTS

    45 BOYS

    33 GIRLS

  3. Let x = the number of bus drivers. (Never let x be equal to the subject of the first sentence.)

    5x = the number of parents.

    3*5x = number of boys

    3*5x - 12 = the number of girls.

    the equation:

    x + 5x + 15x + 15x -12 = 96

    I will let you finish the problem, you should get a whole number.

  4. T = total number of passengers in buses

    D = bus drivers

    P = parents

    B = boys

    G = girls

    T = 96 = B + P + G  + D

    P = 5D

    B = 3P

    G = B - 12

    To find the number of bus drivers, we must solve for D:

    B + G + P + D = T

    D = T - B - G - P

    D = 96 - 3P - (B -12) - P

    D = 96 - 3P - (3P - 12) - P

    D = 96 - 7P + 12

    D = 108 - 7(5D)

    D = 108 - 35D

    36D = 108

    D = 3

    Therefore, the number of drivers is 3.
