I'm having some trouble figuring this out...

1) Use all four numbers of the year-1,7,3, and 2- in any order to find the numbers 1 to 10. You can add, subtract, multiply, divide, use exponents, or use square roots. But remember, you must follow the order of operations.

2) How many of the numbers between 11 and 20 can you calculate?

Thanks! :)

  1. sorry dawg, i dont understand a part of the question. all 4 numbers of the year? it sounds like the year is 1732?

  2. Here are some examples

    7 - 4 - 2 - 1 = 1

    7 - (square root of 4) - 2 -1 = 2

    (7 - (square root of 4) - 2) * 1 = 3

    7 - 4 + 2 -1 = 4

    (7 - (4 / 2) ) * 1 = 5

  3. 7 – (3 + 1 + 2) = 1

    (7 – 3 – 2) * 1 = 2

    7 – 3 – 2 + 1 = 3

    [(7+2)/3] + 1 = 4

    7-3 - 1 + 2 = 5

    (7-1) * (3-2) = 6

    (7-1) + (3-2) = 7

    (7 – 2) + (1 * 3) = 8

    7-2 + 1 + 3 = 9

    (7+3) * (2-1) = 10

    7 – 1 + 3 + 2 = 11

    (7 * 2) +1  - 3 = 12

    7 + 3 +1 +2 =13

    7 + 1 + (2 * 3)  = 14

    (7-2) * 3*1 = 15

    (7 *2) +3 -1 = 16

    (7 *2) + (3 * 1) =17

    (7 * 3) -1 – 2 = 18

    (7*3) – (1*2) = 19

    (7 *3) +1 – 2 = 20
