what is the quotient of 3/4 and -1/2?

and another is like -5 to the 3rd power +1

and then they'res another that says simplify the expression

3x - (4y-3x) - 4y

i have a worksheet on them and these are the models of the questions but i have no idea on how to do them? help please!!

  1. for quotients of fractions, you turn the second fraction upsidedown & multiply. top multiplied by the top, and bottom multiplied by the bottom. then simplify it (bring it down to lowest terms).

    3/4 * -2/1 = -6/4 = -3/2

    for the power questions, just put it into your calculator without the negative: 5 to the 3rd. (5^3) i think that's 125. then, for the negative, if the power is an odd number, like 3, the answer will be odd. so: 5^3= -125. at the end, add the 1, so, -125 + 1 = -124.

    -5^3 = -125

    -125 + 1= -124

    for simplifying, if it's all addition & subtraction, then you can take away the parenthesis, but apply the negative sign BEFORE it to both numbers inside. the (4y-3) will become opposite signs: -4y+3. then match the x's and y's. then add like terms. you might just leave it there, or simplify.

    3x - 4y + 3x - 4y

    3x + 3x - 4y - 4y

    6x - 8y

    3x - 4y

  2. -5 to the third power is -5X-5=+25X-5=  -125 then add add one would be -124

  3. Quotient = division, so the quotient of 3/4 and -1/2 is:

    (3/4) / (-1/2) (change division to multiplication and take the reciprocal of -1/2)

    3/4 * -2/1 (multiply numerators and multiply denominators)

    -6/4 (simplify)

    -3/2 <===

    -5 to the 3rd power + 1:

    (-5)^3 + 1 (expand the exponent)

    (-5)(-5)(-5) + 1 (multiply)

    -125 + 1 (add)

    -124 <===

    3x - (4y - 3x) - 4y (distribute the negative to the parentheses)

    3x - 4y + 3x - 4y (combine like terms)

    6x - 8y <===
