Algeria loses to Italy by 0-3 in FIVB Women’s Volleyball Cup match
The Algerians had a match with the Italians on the Wednesday, November 9th, as part of the FIVB Women’s Volleyball Cup that is currently being held in Japan. The Italians swept the Algerians 3-0 at Hiroshima Sun Plaza.
The match did not take long to reach its close as the Italians were able to hand out a defeat to the Algerians after winning the match in three back to back sets. Not only did the Italians make a clean sweep over their opponents, they won each set of the
game by a comfortable margin.
The first set started off on equal grounds but before the frame could close the Italians took dominance and asserted themselves by winning the game. The second set followed the same pattern as the opening set of the game and reached its close with an Italian
win and the Algerians trailing far behind. The third set was only slightly better for the Algerians but it still ended in a win by a significant margin by the Italians that sealed the deal on them at the following final set scores: 25-14, 25-14 and 25-15.

The coach of the Italian team, Massimo Barbolini, expressed himself in the following manner at the press conference after the match reached its close: “We are very happy we finished this second round undefeated. In this match I could see my players who don’t
usually play at all; they deserved this chance. Now I think we have to concentrate on the third round. It is sure to be very, very hard. We have to think about Korea starting tonight.”
On the other hand, the coach of the Algerian side, Ahmed Boukacem, shared his feelings in this way: “Firstly I’d like to congratulate the Italian team. In comparison with yesterday’s match, we played better today. Even though the Italian team didn’t use
their regular members, it was still a great experience for us.”
The first set of the match started off with an Italian lead early on, an advantage that they were able to extend until the end of the opening set to bag a win at 25-14. The fourth set followed the same drill, with the Italians up at 17-7 that got them to
a 25-14 set win eventually. The third set of the game remained close at 12-11 in favour of the Italians but they managed to pull free and bag the frame at 25-15.
The player that made the most points in the entire match was Sara Anzanello of Italy, who tallied a total of 16 points. On the Algerian side, the players that were the most active were the Bosetti sisters, called Lucia and Caterina each of whom scored 12
points.
