Ali Carter decides to stay in game for four or five years – Snooker Update
Two-time World Snooker Championship runner-up, England’s Ali Carter was not able to perform accordingly in the final encounter of the 2012 World Snooker Championship and tumbled down against the eventual winner, the Rocket Ronnie O’Sullivan. Carter was quite
disappointed over his defeat and hinted his retirement from World Snooker.
However, the Englishman has now realised that he needs to play more so he has decided to stay in the game and spark his cue a bit more. He believes that he still has the potential to get back into the game and pocket some major ranking title in recent snooker.
While speaking to the media, Carter said, “I think I'll probably give it four or five more years and then declare myself out. I'll probably be about 38 by then and I don't want to be doing this for ever, do I? So, if I can really apply myself correctly over
the next few years then I think I can achieve what I want to in the game.”
He added, “It's been OK for the last couple of weeks. I've read all this stuff about me drinking carrot juice to make it better but that's all complete rubbish – I do drink carrot juice but it's just a juice. It's as simple as that. I feel better now than
I have done for a while.”
Carter was struggling from the beginning of the final encounter against the Essex Exocet. The first session of the game was tussling one as both potters were taking every chance to get a handsome lead over each other. In this tussle, the Magician, O’Sullivan
breezed into the lead and kept pressure on Carter until the end of the second session.
The third session brought good news for Carter as he cruised into three-frame wins which seemed that he had come back into the game and might trouble O’Sullivan but his advancement was stopped by the 36-year-old O’Sullivan as he came back to unsettle Carter
by the score line of 18-11.
His retirement consideration came in the news for the second time in the 2011-12 Snooker Season. First time he was suffering from Chron’s disease but still he decided to play the game.
