Ali Carter does not like Chinese food: 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event – Snooker Update
Line-up is all set for the commencement of the 2012 Wuxi Classic at the Wuxi Sports Center in Wuxi, China from Monday, June 25. The potters who have qualified for the initial stages of the tournament are ready to take on the Top 16 which includes the runner
up in the 2012 World Snooker Championship, England’s Ali Carter.
The Captain will be flying to China soon to take part in the tournament. However, he believes that the food in China is different from theirs and has requested World Snooker to provide English food for him, which has been accepted. Carter will now be served
with English food in the hotel during the time he plays in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament.
While speaking to BBC Sport, Carter said, “I haven't been flying much. The weather's been rubbish hasn't it. Going to China is going to be an absolute nightmare. The food out there is totally different. World Snooker have said they're going to help me out.
They're going to get some food in the hotel for me to eat, so we'll watch this space.”
The 33-year-old added, “We have to fund all our own flights now to go abroad, which is an absolute nightmare because you don't know when you want to come back because you don't know how far you're going to get. It's adding up to be a lot more stressful than
it used to be in my opinion.”
Despite that, Carter is also concerned about the number of tournaments in the new snooker season since the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has added some new events in the recent snooker season which has raised concerns from
many potters.
He has a small family and wants to spend time with them but the increased number of events in the circuit has made him participate in all of them because almost all tournaments in the new season contain ranking points and missing any of them simply means
to lower his ranking in the World Snooker standings.
Carter will launch his new snooker season with his match against the winner of the Wild Card round match between Fergal O’Brien and Lu Haotian of China.
