Ali Carter feels no pressure against Judd Trump: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Former Shanghai Master snooker tournament winner, England’s Ali Carter defeated compatriot Mark Davis in the first round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield by the score line of 10-2 to set up a second round clash
with the former World Snooker Championship finalist, the young Bristolian Judd Trump.
The Englishman is looking for a positive run in the Championship but now that he has got Trump as his opponent in the second stage, he is a bit careful because the youngster is on top of his game. However, Carter has played against the 22-year-old Trump
before and knows the situation so he insisted that he feels no pressure when he performs against the 2011 UK Championship winner.
While speaking to World Snooker, Carter said, “I'm under no pressure, no-one expects me to do anything and I don't expect to do anything so we'll see how it goes. Judd has done well. He's riding on the crest of a wave.”
He added, “I don't think he's got the mind to actually grasp where he is, he's a simple minded person, he just gets on with it and takes it in his stride. He's just oblivious to what is going on around him and just pots the balls in front of him.”
Carter’s performance in the recent snooker season was disturbed due to Crohn’s Disease and there was a time when he thought about quitting the game. However, after a while he decided to stay in the game. So far, he has not won any major or minor ranking
snooker event but is determined to make a stunning comeback in the next season.
On the other hand, Trump has kept his game alive throughout the season and he is aiming to clinch the world title. He missed his chance last year which was really disappointing for him but this year he is quite confident of make his way into the finals again.
It will be exciting to see how Carter manages to carry some of his winning momentum forward as he faces Trump in the second round.
