Ali Carter hails Ronnie O’Sullivan for his impressive form in 2012 World Snooker Champion
A superb game play was performed by the winner of the 2012 World Snooker Championship, the Englishman Ronnie O’Sullivan. He totally unnerved the runner up, compatriot Ali Carter during the game while Carter had no chance to trouble his opponent. For O’Sullivan’s
outstanding snooker skills that he showed in the final, Carter appreciated him at the end of the final.
The final clash was expected to be a thrilling game because both potters were going well in their respective Championship runs. The Rocket was as usual at his best in the ultimate game and did not take any pressure against Carter because he had faced him
many times in his career. They were together in the final encounter of the 2008 World Snooker Championship where O’Sullivan was victorious.
History has it that the Rocket has always been victorious in all World Snooker Championship finals he ever appeared in. The Essex Exocet kept his record and clinched his fourth World Snooker Championship title beating the Captain for the second time in the
World Championship final by the score line of 18-11 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
The 32-year-old Carter was not able to unsettle the Magician during the game despite the fact that he played better in the first and the third session. However, he hailed O’Sullivan for his classy snooker genius.
He spoke to the media after the finish of the Championship, “I’m just disappointed with the way I played in the final. Ronnie put me under all sorts of pressure. His safety play was better than mine and when he’s at the table potting, he’s a genius. I was
under it from the start. If he retires, I might win it! The better man won. He’s a genius. It’s the Ronnie O’Sullivan show, isn’t it?”
He added, “I’m pleased for the game that he’s carrying on playing. He’s got so much more to give. To be honest I was totally outplayed in pretty much every aspect. To be fair he did to me what I had done to all my opponents up to that point and totally dominated.”
Carter was really disappointed over his performance in the Championship and he even threatened his retirement. However, after giving it a serious thought, he decided to stay in the game and keep his hopes alive for a tremendous next season.
