Ali Carter hopes for positive outcome in 2012 World Snooker Championship – Snooker News
Snooker players from around the world are looking to give their best in the 2012 World Snooker Championship, which is the most prestigious event in the history of the game. England’s Ali Carter, runner up in the 2008 World Snooker Championship, is also hoping
for a better result at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield despite his illness.
The Englishman is suffering from Crohn’s disease which troubled him in the second half of the 2011-12 Snooker Season and he was unable to perform up to the mark. The Captain was at the brink of retiring from the game due to his health issues but he decided
not to leave the game. The 2012 Shanghai Masters snooker event winner is now aiming to making an appearance in the 2012 World Snooker Championship.
Speaking to BBC, Carter said, “I want to start feeling a little bit better in myself and hopefully the enjoyment will come back. It's horrible when you're turning up to practise and you're not feeling very well and having to force yourself to play. Hopefully
I can turn it into a positive at the World Championships.”
He added, “I've got no expectation on myself unlike a couple of years ago when I got to the final. Mark Davis will be tough. If I get through, Judd Trump is going to be difficult. Judd's got a lot of things going for him and I won't be expected to win that
game by a lot of people.”
Carter has not been a noticeable performer in the recent season because he was unable to win any major or minor ranking snooker event during his campaign. He started his run with the Players Tour Championship (PTC) event where he crashed out in the third
round. In the 2011 Wuxi Classic, he managed to reach the final encounter but lost against the World Number one Mark Selby.
Carter will be up against compatriot Mark Davis in the opening round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre. The 32-year-old will be looking to put in a good performance to improve his rankings and performance.
