Ali Carter outplays Dave Harold, 10-3 – 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
Ali Carter has outplayed Dave Harold by a frame score of 10-3 in the first round of the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship, which is being held at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, England.
The Stroke Potter, Dave Harold, who impressively beat the likes of Jamie Jones and Gerard Greene in the qualifying rounds, crashed out in the last-32. However, the 2008 world championship finalist, Ali Carter, on the same note produced a high standard game to register a comfortable win over his fellow countryman. The overall score-line between both players was 84-23, 92-22, 71-55, 57-6, 96-15, 84-48, 81-40, 65-1, 0-92, 49-60, 15-57, 61-50 and 73-37.
The Captain, Carter, completely dominated the first session, as he stormed into an 8-0 lead before Harold finally broke his duck by winning the ninth frame before the end of the first session.
Carter enjoyed classy breaks of 65, 66 and 63 in the first three frames respectively to lead 3-0. Fourth frame was a bit cagey. A few chances were exchanged but in the end it was again the Essex player, Carter, who came on the top. The world number eight, Carter, took the fifth frame with a couple of quick fires, 36 and 46, before firing up a carving break of 80 in the sixth. Though Harold for the first time in this frame compiled a break of 44, he lost his nerves.
In the seventh frame Harold once again had a frame winning chance but again he couldn’t capitalise on it, broke down on 40 and was punished with a break of 64 from his opponent. Harold was also unable to perform in the eighth frame, as he just managed potting in one red. In the ninth frame however he, out of the blue, fired up a magnificent break of 92 to break his duck before the first session.
The match was almost through before the forty-four-year-old, Harold, brought a bit of life back in it. He pocketed the first two frames at the start of the second session after a bout of safety play to reduce the deficit by 8-3 but it was too for him late now, as his thirty-one-year-old opponent, finished the matter off by winning the following twelfth and thirteenth.
Ali Carter after this devastating performance has now cruised into the last-16 where he will face the winner of the clash which is to be played between Graeme Dott and Mark King.
