Ali Carter wishes to be like Judd Trump: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Former World Snooker Championship runner up, England’s Ali Carter has set up second round clash against the 2011 UK Championship winner, Judd Trump. The clash will be quite thrilling because the pair is in good shape so far. However, Carter insists that
he is too careful while playing and thinks a lot before executing the shots while Trump just go with his heart and plays openly.
Carter played impressively in the first round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield against compatriot Mark Davis by the score line of 10-2. Meanwhile, Trump was outstanding against the Welshman Dominic Dale in the initial
round by the score of 10-7. As far as the performance of the potters is concerned, both cuemen have performed convincingly in the recent season.
However, during their run, both Carter and Trump had to face some serious health issues as Carter was suffering from Crohn’s Disease in the current season and was not able to play with full momentum. On the other hand, Trump suffered from food poisoning
in his first match which affected his performance against Dale. Due to Trump’s playing style, Carter wishes to be like him.
While speaking to the media, Carter said, “I don't think he's got the mind to grasp where he actually is. I think he's just quite a simple-minded person. He just gets on with it and takes it in his stride. My mistake in the past has been that I'm a thinker,
and I think about things, whether it's snooker or business or whatever.”
The 32-year-old added, “In some respects that can be a bad thing. With Judd, he doesn't do that, or he doesn't appear to, like Neil Robertson, they're just oblivious to what's going on around them and just pot the balls in front of them. I wish I was like
that, I would have won a lot more.”
Due to the disease, Carter considered retirement from the game but he did not do it and continued playing. The health issues have eased off now and he feels well to play at the baize. He will be looking to push himself hard because there is always a lot
of pressure on the player especially when a player plays in the World Snooker Championship.
