Ali de Winter picks Starc for special praise – Cricket New Update
With the team gearing up to face http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in the coming weeks, Australian bowling coach, Ali de Winter, has singled out Mitchell Starc for special praise and expects him to become a regular member of the Aussie Test team.
The start of the Australian home summer has again highlighted the team’s pace strength, which is expected to be in the thick of the action when they take the field next month.
Having faced difficulties in finding the right bowling combination two summers ago, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BW-Hilfenhaus-c1204 and Peter
Siddle discovering their rhythm and bowling with self-assurance, while further complimented by a host of youngsters, including http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392.
Among all of them, Starc was the least fancied bowler, but over time, the left-armer has made himself indispensible to the side, offering reliability with the new ball, wise head with the old, and further becoming an out and out wicket-taking option.
And all has been achieved under diverse conditions. After making his debut at home, he further went onto tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 in the English domestic season. Also, his impressive showings at UAE, in the World T20 and currently
in the ongoing Champions League T20 have steadily made him the most sought out fast bowler.
De Winter, who was in South Africa to assist the younger pacers and ensuring that they keep one eye on the upcoming Test series, was delighted with the options at his disposal, furthering singling out Starc for his robustness.
"Mitchell Starc in particular has been outstanding," de Winter said in Hobart. "He's played a lot of cricket since the West Indies, he's been to England and played the A tour, Yorkshire, through the UAE and he's proved to be pretty robust for us, which is
a good sign.
"It's a great problem to have that we've got a full bowling list at the moment. The challenge will be for the selectors to come up with the right mix for that first Test in particular. It is something we haven't experienced for a number of years to have
a full list of bowlers."
