  1. Instead of doing a cake do fun cupcakes like they had at the mad haters tea party. have them on a cake stand and just make multiple tiers. You and your family can make the cupcakes at home with cake mix and just add food coloring to vanilla or butter cream frosting and go crazy with sprinkles, colored sugars, food gels, etc.

As far as decorations are concerned keep in mind the movie, attach playing cards to string and hang around the room, place black construction paper or find a  black laminate cut in circles on the floor to represent the black hole she fell through. Ask some friends and family if they don't mind dressing up for the theme. have one dressed like the queen, another dressed in a suit and give them a pocket watch and bunny ears for the rabbit, have the queens soldiers there (even if its just 2) to greet the guest. Create center pieces with top hats and have little tea cups and pots in different colors, shapes and sizes all over and make sure you use color. Cover card board boxes with the clear or silver translucent tissue paper to make fun mirrors. Make trees and bushes for the enchanted forest.

Try a few of these websites to see if they have other favors you can try

    Good luck and have fun.

  2. Cake

Just a big cake saying 'Eat me' or get a cupcake tower with Lot's of little cakes iced with 'Eat me' on.

    Invitations

Heart invite ...the queen of hearts cordially invites you to...

or ..... don't be late for a very important date...

    Decorations

White rabbit footprints on the floor cut out of black paper

Cut out paper shapes of stopwatches and cats and big hats

    Decks of cards as streamers

Casino table confetti (hearts, diamonds, spades and clubs)

    Food

    Jam tarts,

Pots of drink with drink me labels on,

cucumber sandwiches with crusts cut off,

Cookies and cupcakes with icing on say eat me

Make mushroom treats with a large marsh mellow and stick a little chocolate or icing on one end and then put a round wafer on top.

    Red heart shaped lollipops

    Candy Watches

  3. google sweetsweetsues and you will see a very cool alice and wonderland cake (its under sweet 16 cakes)

  4. Set a large mirror (Through the looking glass) on the table, and set the plates of food atop it.  Put playing cards all over the table.  Your invites could even be playing cards with the time and place written on them.

You have to have tea and tea cakes shaped like mushrooms (cupcakes with creative butter cream frosting might do the trick) .  Get some big old top hats from a thrift store that the guests can wear--stick playing cards in the hat bands.

Set up a croquet set in the back yard for guests to play (I'm sure you could pick up a cheap set at a big box store).

A clam shell next to each place setting with a face card  setting(Kings for men Queens for women, jacks for youngsters) in it to mark each guests place at table might be a nice touch.

Personally I would find a hookah for the center of the table but that might be a bit pricey.

  5. hand out face masks of key characters to guests as they arrive if you are doing RSVP invitations. Use glitter to liven the masks. Depending on finances use light up glasses for drinks. invitations could be oversized Hearts playing cards. Micro glitter glued to outside or confetti inside to liven them up. will edit more in as i think of it

The Cheshire cat could be the cake. not sure of how much time or money you have. but you could do bunches of foliage and flowers intertwined and then in places you could hang mirrors. i would find the things at garage sales. oh well

  6. Invites: you could do them in the shape of a teacup/pot.

Decorations: try and stick with a blue and white theme. Have blue and white balloons stuck around the place. Have jumbo playing cards strung around as streamers. Have arrow signs that read 'THIS WAY' and 'THAT WAY'.

Food: Have mini cupcakes/small cookies with 'EAT ME' written on them. Have things like finger sandwiches, a cake in the shape of the Mad Hatters hat, and have tea/lemonade served out of a teapot into little teacups.

Games: Pin The Grin On The Chesire Cat? Could be a laugh. But mainly just sit around the table chatting like you would at a tea party.
