I think it would be so cool to go to battle with Aliens if they do exist we would prolly get owned but i think it would be cool to live during that happening wut do u think? do u even beleive in aliens?

I believe that other civilizations must exist out there somewhere. The universe is way too big for them not to.

But I don't think they would be hostile. Bureaucratic at worst, but sometimes that is just as bad as hostile. If they did attack I don't think it would be very cool. But if they were friendly it would be VERY cool.

the asker is just saying that it would be cool to see aliens, not insisting that they are real. And they are asking if people think they could be real, not if they agree witht he asker that they are real. The asker never gave his opinion.

its possible because the universe is so big and old and may be their is other civilization out there that is more advance. i think their will be a war because maybe the aliens take things seriously that maybe someone will make fun of them and start a war.

Lets put it this way,if there were aliens that were intent on taking over our planet. It's going to go one of a few ways and none of them good. It's my personally favorite reason for a strong and active space-program.

Find them before they find us since in all of human history it's never really "gone too well" for the folks on the receiving end of an "exploratory" ship arriving at your shores. Just ask the Inca, Maya, Aztecs, North American Indians, Chinese, Japanese or Africans, first contact was not exactly a boon to their civilizations.

If aliens were coming here and were interested in conquest or just a new slave race(s)/food source etc.

1. Either they would like to keep the planet's environment more or less as it is - just with a whole lot less of us around. Find some convenient way of making us either infertile (children of men style) or create some biological weapon against all human or primate life (12 monkeys style).

2. They don't care about the environment but they do enjoy the real-estate prospects. Bomb the surface of the planet or introduce a nanoswarm or virus which eliminates all life on the planet.

3. Slaves, we may not be bright enough to elect responsible leaders, or explore and colonize our own solar system very effectively we do make pretty AWESOME slaves.  You might get the chance to see your attackers , or it might be they send other large smart bear-aliens or compliant Alien type bug aliens slave races down to pummel us into slavery and then send us offworld or where-ever.

4. FOOD - Humans may talk alot of trash but we might just be - what's for dinner, who knows to some alien species we could be quite tasty.

5. We're vermin to be exterminated along with our planet and everything inside a 1million mile radius. Just use a nanoswarm or some other sort of high energy weapon (singularity weapon or energy weapon of some kind) and re-liquify the planet.

It's completely unlikely that some race would come from dozens or hundreds of light years away , and then resort to hand to hand combat.

As far as whether aliens exist, Oh yeah that's definitely the case.

To answer that part of your question, It's VERY likely that there other civilizations in this galaxy. The reasons is simple but you have to put up with some math and some history.

Back in the 60's some scientists asked the very same question, and came out with a basic formula that figures that out.

The main idea was fleshed out by a scientist named Frank Drake, he basically put some of the parts of the question together differently and assigned a likelyhood/probability to each.

Drake asked the question this way, what was the likelyhood of us communicating with another technically advanced civilization. Since that question breaks down, into parts that we can discover by looking around the universe, over time , we will be able to make a very good guestimate of how many civilizations are out there.

For instance one "factor" in his equasion was "the likelyhood of a sunlike star"

Another "factor" was "The likelyhood of a sunlike star with planets like Earth" - this gives you the basic idea.

The French have recently launched a space-telescope which should be able to find "Earthlike" planets.

when "Corot" finds some planets, we can then do math to figure out how common they are ,and basically "know" one of the numbers Drake only could guess at in the 1960's.

In a few years the US/NASA will - funding allowed - be able to launch an satelite in 2008 called "Kepler" which will search for "Earthlike" finding space-telescope of our own.

Another question similar to yours is whether we will contact or ever be contacted by an alien civilization.

The SETI program in the 1990's and presently is designed to discovery signals from alien civilizations, and it is regularly if not constantly listening towards the stars for the faintest of signals.

But this question actually has a suprising answer, the answer may ALREADY be yes. The transmission is called the "Wow" signal and was detected on August 15,1977.

IF we asume the "Wow signal" is genuine, we would have been able to detect an alien civilization's message without it being specifically "for" us, which is a rare find, but after only 80 or 90 years could potentially mean the universe is crawling with life!

However, because it's just a fluke since we have not since found another "Wow" type signal,we shouldn't get too excited.

In the movie Contact (based on the Carl Sagan novel), the first 1/2 of the movie shows what a "first contact" situation might actually be like. It's unlikely that the signal would be able to be interpreted in the first couple of years or maybe even decades.

An open and interesting socioloigcal question is what would the immediate aftermath (on Earth) be of a first contact situation, the movie points out some of the "popular" disruptions to society.

I don't believe in the word Alien. I do think there is other life in this huge Universe we live in, but Alien is such a mean word. Life on other planets could be really smart, and really stupid. I don't think the world is ready to see developed life on other worlds yet.

I really don't know. I think it would be a really short war though. There are so many alleged stories and people coming forward claiming to have worked for the military. I have some memories which are questionable.I remember them giving me things like that stretchy stuff they use on people.That stuff is really flammable. It makes the same noise like stretch wrap.Once you lite it and put water on it it burns the water a bright white flame that can go pretty high. I think it was estimated to be around 10,000 degrees but would go straight up in the air. The firemen seemed to be really confused about it. They would just keep hosing it with the water like kids playing with fire. They also gave me a skin sampler or scooper.I don't have any of these things but they were memorable though. There were a couple of devices too but also gone. I'm not really sure who they are but they seem to be masters of disguises and illusions.

If there were intelligent life forms outside our universe, they would not want to fight us.  If they did, I'm sure their weaponry would out due ours as they are 'intelligent'.  They probably would have lasers rather than bullets.  

Anyway, if they wanted to do away with us, they would have already, don't hold your breath.

There are both malevolent and benevolent entities out there, however, most are here to teach us.  Their purpose is to teach us earthling how to 'save' our earth and about 'universal laws'.  

If anything, maybe they will take over our planet, but not by violence, by creating an inter-species much like ours.  Children will grow up and become intelligent and compassionate about our planet, unlike today's mentality.
