Question:

Alien Registration Number (Code 3)?

My wife finally received a letter for her 'biometrics' (finger printing) appointment and while there she got her 'USCIS A#' (alien number)...

Now does this mean she can work legally? She had a temporary social security number when she first came on her J1 visa, but it has since expired. We have filled all the other documents, too many as a matter of fact (we jumped the gun and USCIS sent some of our payments back because we have to file in an order I guess). We both are very eager for her to start working but want to do it correctly/legally. I have attempted to look through the googles of .gov's pertaining to this subject and still haven't a clue as to what I am reading. Thank goodness for Yahoo Answers! And a sincere Thank You to all of those who provide their knowledge/opinions. TIA!!!
