Alienware’s latest creation can run Battlefield 3 in full spec and looks like a slightly oversized Xbox 360 and packs quite a punch as well.
In the long running war between PC and console gaming, it seems Alienware are the first to present what the next generation of PC gaming computers will embody with their X51 PC designed exclusively for gaming.
The sleek black piece of kit looks more like a console than a PC yet make no mistake about it is no gaming console. The X51 comes in a number of models, as do all things Alienware, with the most expensive one set to cost nearly a thousand British Pounds
(£999 to be exact) yet is a beast in its own right.
The specs for that particular model include an Intel Core i7-2600 processor with an 8GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce GTX 555 graphics card for support, which when put together can run Electronic Arts’ latest first-person modern military shooter, Battlefield 3,
at a stunning 77 frames per second.
For those who want that translated into plain and simple English, it is a beast of a machine and Battlefield 3 runs so smoothly on it that one would think it’s a baby’s bottom.
On the other hand the cheapest model cost only 700 British Pounds or (£699) and has an Intel Core i3-2120 processor which runs at about 3.3 GHz. It has only 4GB of DDR3 RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GT545 Graphics card and boasts an incredulous 1TB worth of
space on the Hard disk.
According to Alienware’s senior product consultant, Eoin Leyden, the X51 is in a league of its own. He said, “I don’t personally believe you can offer a system that offers a better gaming performance within that form-factor or even that there is anything
close.”
A mighty boast by Alienware and one can be sure that their closest rivals, Razer will be making notes and coming up with a beast of their own. The latter recently announced their rather powerful Razer Blade gaming laptop yet to be honest it is unlikely that
the two products would ever be compared.
